The program focuses.. |
on the important aspects of civic life by exploring and increasing general understanding of the History and Culture, Economic, Political, Social and Educational issues unique to the Lakes Region.. |
The Leadership |
with an Orientation/Alumni Dinner and, continues with seven workshops held one day a month for seven months. Using surrounding towns as the "classroom", the sessions are designed to offer first-hand information from, and discussion with, business, organizational, government, and civic leaders. |
It is the desire of Leadership Lakes Region.. |
to promote volunteerism and teach people how to become involved in their community as a "lifelong" activity. By the end of the program, participants will be more knowledgeable than most about the Lakes Region Area and will have developed a network of others, like themselves, who are anxious to volunteer and work together to improve our communities. |
Leadership Lakes Region was founded..

in 1996 by citizens of the Lakes Region committed to fostering strong civic awareness in the community. The group modeled the program after other successful leadership programs throughout the United States.

A day to get acquainted with your classmates and the program...what to expect and how to get the most out of it. An introductory session and discussion with proven leaders; how they got to where they are, how they lead their organizations and the lessons they learned about leadership along the way. An Alumni reunion dinner for all will follow. |

| A historical perspective of the Lakes Region and the cultural forces that have shaped it. |

Social Issues Day Tuesday December 7th, 2010 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM |

| An overview of social service issues impacting the Lakes Region area including elder/youth services, welfare reform and disability services. |

Education Issues Day Thursday January 6th, 2011 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM |
|
| Interact with educational professionals from various levels as they describe and discuss the challenges faced by today's teachers and students. |

Economic Issues Day Wednesday Feb. 9th, 2011 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM |

| This day will introduce participants to the status of our regional economy and the problems and potential for economic growth in the Lakes Region. |

Political Issues Day Tuesday March 8th, 2011 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM |
|
| Learn the relationship and responsibilities of local, county and state government through an interactive panel discussion by political leaders. |

| Session Seven |
Health Issues Day Thursday April 14th, 2011 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM |
|
| An overview of healthcare in the region including access to medical services, costs of these services to the provider as well as the patient, under and uninsured populations and programs to address unique needs. |

| Session Eight | Lakes Day/Graduation Thursday May 19th, 2011 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM |
|
| This day on the Lake will bring the entire year's program into perspective as we explore the central natural feature of our region; its allure, its fragile nature, its features and its future..Revisit your experiences this past year and discuss how you can use these experiences to accomplish personal goals as they relate to your community and your Lakes Region. Graduates will be asked for input for next year's program. |
